There was very little standing still at Conchas Chinas.

The boys moved from the sand to the rocks, from the shoreline to the shallow water, turning the beach into something closer to a playground than a backdrop. Their parents followed naturally — holding hands, lifting them from the water, laughing between waves and letting the afternoon unfold without asking it to be anything more.

That is what I enjoy most about family photography in Puerto Vallarta: the photographs do not need to feel like a collection of poses. They can feel like the place itself — salt on the skin, wet feet, warm light, rocky shores and the small freedom that comes with being away from home.

For this family, Conchas Chinas gave us plenty to work with. The rocks became part of the story. The ocean became an invitation. And the children simply did what children do when there is no reason to stay still.

As a Puerto Vallarta family photographer, I approach these sessions with the idea that the best photographs often happen between the photographs — while walking toward the water, chasing a brother, climbing over a rock or finding a reason to laugh.

The result is less about creating a perfect family portrait and more about keeping a piece of the trip exactly as it felt: sunny, unplanned, and completely theirs.
