Some family sessions naturally become less about posing and more about simply allowing children to move through a place the way they would remember it later. Barefoot on the sand, running between their parents, collecting shells for a few minutes before getting distracted by the waves again.
That afternoon in Sayulita felt exactly like that.
The beach stayed quiet while the jungle-covered hills surrounding the coastline slowly softened under the evening light. The kids moved constantly between laughter, curiosity, and the kind of energy that only really exists when children feel completely comfortable being themselves. Nothing about the session needed interruption. Their parents followed along, holding hands one moment, carrying them through the sand the next, letting the experience unfold naturally instead of trying to control every second of it.
What I enjoy most about photographing families in Sayulita is how easily the environment invites that kind of connection. The beach rarely feels overly formal.
Children have space to explore, parents relax into the moment, and the session becomes more about interaction than posing.
Some of the most meaningful photographs usually happen in between everything else — while fixing a dress covered in sand, carrying tired kids after running along the shoreline, or laughing through moments that were never planned in the first place.
